Philip J Sayers is Managing Director of London Hyperbaric Medicine Ltd. a company specialising in the treatment of divers suffering from Decompression Illness or the ‘Bends’. Prior to establishing the company in 2000, Philip worked for 12 years in the commercial diving industry on the inland waterways and the coasts of northern Germany. In 1988 he undertook three expeditions to the wreck of the Nazi flagship Wilhelm Gustloff lying off the Polish coast then went on to design and manufacture professional and military diving equipment for the German and Swedish Armed Forces. In the mid nineties his business expanded to include the design and manufacture of Hyperbaric diving chambers from his base in Bremen.
Born in Jersey Channel Islands, Philip graduated from Swansea University in 1976 with a BSc joint honours degree in Oceanography and Marine Biology. Following his graduation he worked on research projects with Cambridge University in the Red Sea and spent two and a half years with the British Antarctic Survey on the island of South Georgia. Philip relocated to England in 2001 and now lives in North Essex. He also speaks fluent German and this is his first novel.
